Wake Up!

On sleeping, snoring and scrolling

8 febr. t/m 28 sept.

Sleeping is something we all do every day. Some of us sleep like a log. Others toss and turn. Animals also need to sleep. How long they sleep varies. Prey animals sleep in short snatches and remain alert. Predators, on the other hand, can afford the luxury of deep sleep. Yet today, more and more people and animals are having trouble sleeping. Global warming and light pollution are confusing our biorhythms. This is disrupting sleep patterns in humans and animals. Therefor it’s time to wake up!

Wake Up! is an exhibition that reveals exactly what happens during sleep and why it is so important. There are lots of fascinating facts about sleep in the animal kingdom. You will also have a chance to try different sleep positions and different places to sleep. With your head in a lampshade, you will discover how (artificial) light affects your ability to sleep. In other words, Wake Up! is definitely not an exhibition that will put you to sleep.

The exhibition is complemented by an extensive programme of activities.
